Opened on April 4th, 1994, Jacobs field embodies the essence of baseball in a way only a city like Cleveland could pull off. From the lush Kentucky Blue Grass surface to the massive Indians logo looming high above the leftfield scoreboard, you'll know you're in a great place to catch a game when you're at Jacobs Field. The massive scoreboard, behind a 19-foot wall and a huge seating section in left-centerfield, can be daunting to batters, but it's nothing short of an impressive piece of architecture to the common spectator. This could easily be argued one of the best backdrops for a home run to be hit into throughout the league. It's easy to see this city has come a long way from "The Mistake by the Lake" of the Indians old home. Now a great city gets to treat its wonderful fans to a game played in a rightful home.
Fans sitting down the lines will enjoy the seats being angled in towards home plate; a feature other modern ballparks still seem to overlook. When the bases are loading up fast and the lead is in jeopardy, elevated bullpens let spectators see who's warming up to save the day. There's an entire section behind first base dedicated to little Indians fans. Kidsland includes special features and concessions for young apprentices of the game. Gather family, friends or colleagues together during the game for a meal together in the Picnic Area just behind the outfield fence.
Parking, in one of an estimated 30,000 spots, should not be a problem. There are numerous garages within walking distance of the stadium.
Baseball and Cleveland share a relationship dating back to 1869, so you know they do it right here. Grab the family, some friends or some co-workers and get out to Jacobs Field to enjoy some fresh air and a game. Sometimes it only takes the crack of a bat and some sun on your face to make a memory that will stay with you forever!
