Coors Field pairs the comfort of modern design with the ambiance of yesteryear's ballparks. The hand-laid brick and old-fashioned clock tower atop the main entrance add further to the great experience of attending a game. Its asymmetrical walls and deep, outfield combine with thinner air to dramatically increase bating averages. The 17-foot high right field scoreboard is in play and any ball that jumps over this barrier is a well hit one. Coors is definitely a hitter's ball park and chances are strong that you'll be attending a high-scoring game.
For great views of the Rockies, look for seats along the first base side or in the right field area. If you want to know exactly where one-mile above sea level is, look no further than the 20th row of the upper level where a ring of purple seats marks the elevation at exactly 5,280 feet.
So does a ball travel further at a mile above sea level? A ball will travel 9 percent farther at 5,280 feet than it would at sea level. It is has been estimated that a home run hit 400 feet in sea-level Yankee Stadium would travel about 408 feet in Atlanta's Turner Field and as far as 440 feet at Coors Field.
All that fresh mountain air got you hungry? There are specialty stations offering a rotating menu of selections such as fresh pasta, hand tossed salad, and hand-carved sandwiches near sections 221 and 236; there are also two full service bars near these sections. You can find ice cream, Java City espresso and a sweet shop near section 223. There's no need to worry about missing all the action while you're gathering refreshments either, Coors field was designed so a fan can walk 360 degrees around the park and never loose site of the field.
If the office just isn't cuttin' it, now's the perfect time to fake a Doctor visit and head out to Coors Field for a Rockies game. Can't you hear the fresh air, peanuts and Cracker Jacks calling your name?
