The first world series was one in 1903 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In the years 1912 and 1915 the Red Sox featured some of the finest outfielders in baseball. The Red Sox then signed the infamous Babe Ruth and then sold him to the yankees as one of the most insane things to do. The reason for the sale from The Red Sox was to fund a broadway play. In 1933 they were purchased by Tom Yawkey who pumped money into the club and also acquired Ted Williams considered the greatest hitter of all time. T

Ted Williams took them to the World Series in 1946 and that would be the last and only time he played on the World Series stage. The Williams who went to the Korean war returned and came to a depleted league which most of the players had retired or been traded, They also had a chance to pick up Jackie Robinson and Willie Mays but passed them up due to segregation at the time.

Then came one of the greatest world series games of all time which featured the dramatic home runs of Bernie Carbo and Carlton Fisk and the famous body english home run. In the 70’s and 80’s with the home run hitting power of Rice, Evans and Baylor they would still come up short for there goal to win the world series. Then in 1990 where they faced the A’s in the ALCS, once again they came up short. That brought them to 1999 in where they faced the Yankees in the American League Championship series where they came up short to the Yankees.

The Redsox faced the St Louis Cardinals in the 2004 world series. The Cardinals who had the best record in the league that year faced a hungry Boston team. Curt schilling who played his heart out in the series and constituted his great performance along with the others in beating and sweeping the Cardinals for the World Series win since 1918.
