The Kansas City Royals who started playing in the 1880’s played at association park- where a sign read please don’t shoot the umpire. They started there play in Muehlebach Field from 1923-1936 which they were called the Kansas City Monarchs. Then between the years 1955-1967 they were called the Kansas City Athletics and then the Kansas City Royals starting in 1969 until present. One of the greatest moments of that early era was in 1930 where one of the first night games was ever played. The Kansas City Royals moved to Kauffman stadium in 1993-present time which holds a capacity of 40,625. A great moment in time in that stadium was when Bret Saberhagen pitches an 11-0 shutout in game 7 of the World Series against St Louis and the Royals are crowned world champions.

In 1980 Willie Wilson from the Kansas City royals became the first major leaguer to record 700 at bats. In 1982 John Wathan established the single season record for steals by a catcher. Also, in the 80’s famous player Hal Mcrae became noted for rolling into second baseman and short shops, they called it the Mcrae rule. In a look back the Royals were once a thriving franchise between 1976-1985 and there World Series victory in 85. The 2005 was the worst team, they lost a franchise high 106 games and had the worst record in the majors. The royals went through three managers in in 05 and had a 19 game losing streak as well. The only strength was their bullpen and help from the offense might be coming from Billy Butler. The Kansas City royals also signed Alex Gordon and with more improvements in 2006 they might be able to get themselves out of the gutter..
