The Los Angeles Coliseum was built in 1923 and home to the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1958-1961 and had a capacity of 93,103 fans, the largest stadium in baseball history. Then in 1962 Dodger Stadium is home to the current Los Angeles Dodgers. The greatest moment in team history and in many minds the greatest moment in baseball. It was October 15, 1988 with the Dodgers behind by one run and facing Denis Eckerseley, baseballs best relief pitcher and injured pinch hitter Kirk Gibson pinch hits with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. He hits perhaps the most exciting and dramatic home run in baseball history. Dodgers win 5-4 win over the Oakland Athletics.

In 1982 with contract problems with Steve Garvey and rejected a three year deal with the dodgers. On the field the plusses were Steve Sax’s performance at second place instead of Lopes and Guerrero with 32 home runs certainly gave them a boost. On the pitching side Valenzuela and Reuss had a combined wins of 37. In 1983 Tommy Lasorda signed a 3 yr deal with the Dodgers because of fear from the Yankees in picking him up. In the early 90’s the signing of Darryl Strawberry and Brett Butler came to be an expensive move and justified that there farm team has dwindled. In the early 2000’s the only major highlight might have been the 49 home runs Shawn Green hit in 2001. The amazing year of Gagne with 84 consecutive saves without a blown one, was a major league first. In 2005. The Los Angeles Dodgers started with a bang going 12-2 and then hit a wall in not winning more then 3 games in a row for the rest of the season. There were to many injuries in 2005 for the Los Angeles Dodgers to recover and with a firing of Tracy and Depodesta, the dodgers are looking to clean house and start off with a bang in 2006
